Write-ability highly commended

WVs Write-ability program was highly commended at the 2016 Victorian Disability Awards ceremony yesterday for excellence in cultural and social access.

Over the last four years, Write-ability has provided accessible literary activities, opportunities and commissions for people with disability in Melbourne and Geelong. You can read more about our programs for writers with disability on this website

Now in their sixth year, the Victorian Disability Awards recognise people and organisations who make outstanding contributions to empowering people with disability and creating an inclusive community. We are thrilled that a disability-led program like Write-ability was recognised within this year's awards. Our congratulations go out to all of the other finalists and nominees.

Particular thanks to WVs own Fiona Tuomy and Harriet Gaffney, our friends and partners at Arts Access Victoria, and all of our Write-ability writers, tutors and participants over the past four years. Thanks also to the Melbourne City of Literature Office for nominating us for the award, and to this year's funding partners: the Lord Mayor's Charitable Foundation, Perpetual and the Grace Marion Wilson Trust.

Thank you to Write-ability for giving me the opportunity of gaining so much assistance from Lyndel Caffrey and Harriet Gaffney.
