How do we reckon with trauma in our writing? How can writing memoir be an opportunity to understand how our experiences have shaped us? Discover what it means to explore vulnerability in your writing with author and inaugural winner of The Horne Prize, Anna Spargo-Ryan.

In this workshop, you'll discover how to write about trauma with nuance, humour and compassion and how to blend memoir with analysis to talk about difficult subjects in novel ways.

A creative collaboration with Melbourne Writers Festival. There are a  limited number of places held for Writers Victoria members at a membership rate. Please choose the concession price when purchasing tickets.

  • Writing exercises to help hone your craft and reinforce your new skills
  • Personalised feedback from Anna on a piece of writing up to 500 words 

 

About Anna Spargo-Ryan

Anna Spargo-Ryan is the Melbourne-based author of The Gulf and The Paper House, and a winner of the Horne Prize. Her next book, a nonfiction narrative on mental illness, will be published by Picador in 2021.
