This workshop will take place online. Detailed instructions for participation will be provided.

From her short story collection (Children's Children) to her flash fiction anthology (Postcard Stories), Irish writer Jan Carson's short fiction demonstrates a mastery of the form.

In this workshop, she unpacks the tools you need to develop ideas, conduct research, hold your reader's attention, and master plot, structure, character and pacing within a tight form.

A creative collaboration with Melbourne Writers Festival. There are a  limited number of places held for Writers Victoria members at a membership rate. Please choose the concession price when purchasing tickets.

Included in this course:

  • Three hours of information, education, industry advice, tricks and tips
  • Writing exercises to help hone your craft and reinforce your new skills
  • Personalised feedback from Jan on a piece of writing up to 500 words 
     

About Jan Carson

Jan Carson has a novel, Malcolm Orange Disappears and short story collection, Children’s Children, (Liberties Press) and two micro-fiction collections, Postcard Stories Vol. 1 and 2 (Emma Press). Her novel The Fire Starters (Doubleday) won the EU Prize for Literature for Ireland 2019.
