It’s the way in which characters see the world, often, that makes fiction compelling. In this workshop, you’ll hone your skills in observation and voice through examining influential writers and observational consciousness across contemporary literary fiction. You will also practice writing from characters’ perspectives and give and receive feedback on one another’s drafts.Details
This workshop will take place online and will be recorded, with the recording sent to registered participants afterward. Detailed instructions for participation will be provided in the week preceding the event.

About the Tutor:
Jessica Zhan Mei Yu is a writer of fiction, non-fiction and poetry. She is a Lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Melbourne. Her debut novel, But the Girl, was published by Jonathan Cape (UK) and Penguin Random House (Australia) in 2023 and will be published with Unnamed Press in the US in March 2024. Her essay collection, All the Stain is Tender, is set to follow.
