This workshop is designed for writers who want to become more confident in editing their own work. Participants will be introduced to different editorial approaches and techniques that will help get their manuscript in the best shape before submission to publishing houses or self-publishing. They will also learn the importance of developing a self-editing practice and gain an understanding of the strengths and weaknesses in their own writing.Details
This workshop will take place online and will be recorded, with the recording sent to registered participants afterward. Detailed instructions for participation will be provided in the week preceding the event.
You Will Learn:
- An overview of the different stages of editing
- How to edit your writing through a structural lens
- How to edit your writing through a line/sentence lens
- How to identify and address common issues in writing
- How to develop a self-editing practice
About the Tutor:
Camha Pham is a freelance editor based in Naarm/Melbourne, with over ten years of experience in the publishing industry. Her freelance clients include publishers such as Hachette, Hardie Grant, UQP, Affirm Press, and Pantera Press, among others. She has worked in-house at Oxford University Press and Margaret River Press, and has sat on various editorial boards. She also works in the industry as a manuscript assessor and was the mentor for the 2023 Open Book publishing program.
