Writers Victoria is so pleased to announce the recipient of our Only Connect Digital Writer Residency for Carers: Regional and Rural Writers for 2019. Bel Woods is a Victorian writer, residing in Ballarat. She enjoys both contemporary and lyrical literary fiction, especially the exploration of female characters within these contexts.
CC: What do you enjoy most about writing (and reading) romance fiction?
Clare: I’ve loved romance novels for as long as I can remember – and for many reasons. I love the guaranteed happy ending, the escapism, the glamour and of course the whole falling-in-love bit!
CC: What comes first for you when writing a novel: character, plot, setting or voice?
'When an American accountant approaches Melbourne woman Kimberly Leamy out of the blue and tells her he believes she is Sammy Went, a child who was abducted as a two-year old from her home in Manson, Kentucky, Kim believes this is a case of mistaken identity. But as she investigates her family, questions arise and she travels to Kentucky to find answers.'
