Round Seven of The Neilma Sidney Literary Travel Fund Opens for Applications

2022 Neilma Sidney Literary Travel Fund Round Seven

Writers Victoria, with the generous support of the Myer Fund, are happy to open applications for the seventh round of the Neilma Sidney Literary Travel Fund.

Named in honour of poet, novelist and short story writer Neilma Gantner (1922-2015), the travel fund recognises the unique value of travel in the development of new writing and literary careers. The travel fund is open to emerging, midcareer and established Australian writers and literary sector workers. This includes writers, editors, agents, publishers, librarians, booksellers, employees and associates of literary organisations and journals, and other literary professionals currently living in Australia. Applicants can apply for grants between $2,000 to $10,000.

Judges for the seventh round are non-fiction publisher and previous Neilma Sidney Literary Travel Fund recipient Arwen Summers; Muslim Bangladeshi-Australian author, editor and advocate Radhiah Chowdhury; and Gunai/Kurnai woman, writer and winner of the 2022 Victorian Premier’s Prize for Indigenous Writing and the 2022 Victorian Premier’s Prize for Literature for ‘Black and Blue’, Ronnie Gorrie. The judges will be looking for applications that demonstrate how strategic travel opportunities will benefit their own writing practice, career development and/or the broader Australian literary sector.

Applications will close at 4pm on Thursday, 14 April 2022. For more information about applying, please visit this page.
