We are thrilled that our Cells for Writers at Old Melbourne Gaol made an appearance in a recent episode of ABC's 'Bookish'. The episode invites viewers to walk the streets of inner city Melbourne with Myfanwy Jones, with visits to her writing rooms (including our Cells!) as she discusses writing 'Leap', her Miles Franklin-shortlisted novel. You can watch the episode on ABC iView

Experience the cells for yourself

In the seclusion of a writing studio at The Old Melbourne Gaol. Hundreds of writers have worked in these two dedicated studios over many years. Why not lock yourself away for a month or more to write with no distractions as they did? The writing studios are on the third floor of the gaol, and contain a desk and a chair and not much else but four bluestone walls to look at.

If you are interested please email our admin team or phone 03 9094 7855 Mon-Fri (10am-4pm). You will need a current Police Check (not a Working with children check) or Victoria Teacher’s registration to be a resident writer at the gaol.
