Ugandan refugee Sirage Kifamunyanja will launch a book this weekend thanks to the support of Writers Victoria and the Brotherhood of St Laurence’s Ecumenical Migration Centre (EMC).

Kifamunyanja wanted to share his story of imprisonment in Uganda and needed help to tell it.

Writers Victoria connected him with EMC to get the story down, edited the book and provided a place to launch it.

Art therapy and storytelling helped Kifamunyanja to put the book together through work with EMC psychologist Jill Parris.

Kifamunyanja hopes his book Life in the Winds of Changewill hold the Ugandan government to account for human rights violations against him.

He is the first refugee to make a complaint to the United Nations about the Ugandan Government. Life in the Winds of Change will be launched this Saturday 10 November at The Wheeler Centre from 2pm.
