Words from the Surf Coast Arts Trail 2018 follows last year’s successful inaugural event, which attracted a high number of participants in the first Arts Trail open mic night.
“We were delighted with the number of writers who came along to read their words, the artists with pieces represented and the more than 50 audience members who turned up to listen,” said Writers Victoria’s Surf Coast Regional Ambassador Gail Chrisfield.
“This year, we’re hoping to build on our initial success by urging more local writers to get out and about over the Arts Trail weekend, on 11 and 12 August, find a piece of art they find inspiring, take a photo and produce a piece of writing about it.”
Participating writers will be eligible to present their words and photos at the free Words from the Surf Coast Arts Trail open mic night at the Bellbrae Hall, 100 School Road
Bellbrae, on Thursday 30 August 2018 from 6.30pm.
Prizes will be awarded for the best entries, with the event also featuring curated word works by several award-winning local authors, including Favel Parrett and Jock Serong.
Writers are encouraged to register their intention to participate by emailing email@example.com. Registration is free and provides access to more information about the program.
Writers Victoria acknowledges the support of Surf Coast Shire Council’s Small Grants program and the Grace Marion Wilson Trust in making this initiative possible.
