Collective celebrations

The 2016 AusRomToday Reader’s Choice Awards nominees have been announced and amongst the shortlist are:

  • Best New Author: Cassandra O’Leary, member
  • Best Established Author: Alli Sinclair, member and tutor
  • Author of the Year: Alli Sinclair, member and tutor
  • Book of the Year: Alli Sinclair, member and tutor, for 'Under the Spanish Stars' and Anita Heiss, tutor, for 'Barbed Wire and Cherry Blossoms'

Individual celebrations

Michaela McGuire, tutor, has been appointed as the new Sydney Writers’ Festival artistic director taking over the curation of the 2017 festival.

Lisa Gorton, tutor, has been announced as the Fiction winner in the Prime Minister’s Literary Awards 2016 for her novel 'The Life of Houses'.

George Ivanoff, member, is an Honour Book winner in the KOALAs 2016 awards categoary for Fiction for Younger Readers for 'You Choose: Alien Invaders from Beyond the Stars'
