Writers Victoria

Writers Vic members get a first look at our Season 1 program this week and an opportunity to win a $200 gift voucher from our friends at Embiggen Books.

Our 2017 program has been designed to celebrate the value of words in the world - both through how we recognise the impact of our literary community and by highlighting the different ways that writers can develop their craft (and make a living in the process).

The program looks at the state of the sector and the things that our writing can do. It covers a range of different ways in which writers can support themselves through their work. And it includes a special focus on environmental issues in line with the International Year of Sustainable Tourism Development, with courses ranging from climate change to environmental non-fiction.

In Season 1, you’ll find our popular Summer School writing workshops, more online courses than ever before, and extensions of our partnerships with the National Trust of Australia (Victoria) and The Garret Podcast.

The program includes activities for beginners, emerging and more established writers, with courses for TV and YouTube writers, poets and memoirists, short-storytellers, literary fiction writers and more. As usual, the program brings together an inspirational group of professional writers and industry experts, including Maxine Beneba Clarke, AS Patric, Alice Pung and Dave O'Neil.

It will showcase and support all sorts of writers from all over the State (and beyond), with events confirmed in Geelong, Sale and Woodend (with more to follow).

We hope you find space for your words in the world this writing year.

Your chance to win!

The winner will be announced during the Season 1 program launch at The Salon Does 2017 on the evening of Tuesday 6 December, featuring special guest AS Patric.
