Writers have explored their bodies through words in a variety of ways. 

In this recording of awebinar held in July 2017 as part of the Write-ability Goes Regional and Online program, children’s book author Jessica Walton takes us through different examples of text and description and discusses how different approaches to writing about the body.

About Jessica Walton

Jessica Walton is a picture book author, teacher, child of a trans parent, and proud queer disabled person. ‘Introducing Teddy’ (2016) is their first book, illustrated by the very talented Dougal MacPherson. Jess wrote it to help explain gender identity in a simple, positive way to their young son, after one of her parents came out as transgender. Jess lives in Melbourne with their wife, two kids, and Archie the cat.
