How do I find a literary agent?

You can find a list of agents through the Australian Literary Agents' Association. The ALAA was formed in 2003 in order to provide a public presence and a point of contact for Australian literary agencies and their staff. Members of this association are required to meet certain standards, and – once the manuscript is accepted – they do not charge a fee for editorial advice (part of the association’s code of practice).

You can also find a database of Australian literary agents on The Australian Writer’s Marketplace. The Writer’s Marketplace is owned and managed by the team at Queensland Writers Centre, and their database of Australian literary contacts and services is accessible at a small yearly subscription fee.
