Summary:

Speculative fiction helps you understand other perspectives and encourages a response in fiction to sometimes realistic themes such as climate change, the role of technology, societal dysfunction, and the crucial what if? In this online feedback clinic that runs over five months, author Eugen Bacon will provide feedback on your short story or excerpt of a longer work of fiction, enabling you to hone your work with believable worlds and characters in convincing speculative fiction. This online course actively encourages sharing of your work with your cohort as well as with the tutor.

Details

You will learn to be your first critical reader in convincing speculative fiction that:

  • Hooks your audience

  • Hosts engaging characters

  • Builds immersive worlds that may be strange yet believable

  • Employs one or more genre or subgenre of fantasy, science fiction or horror/paranormal

  • Leverages on the power of the short story.

 

Pieces of up to 1500 words due 11:55pm Thursdays 3 February, 3 March, 7 April, 5 May, 2 June
