Whether you are writing a sex scene or just writing about someone brushing their teeth, your writing can be lifted from the mundane into something that is an immersive, sensual, whole-body experience. Through a series of exercises, activities, discussions and readings, this workshop will equip you with tools that will help you to see and describe your literary world in a more sensual light.

This masterclass is for established writers only: that is, writers who have had at least one book or short story collection published by a mainstream publisher or a significant publication history in literary journals or similar publication. Writers should also have a substantial project in the early- to mid-stages of development.

You will learn:

  • How to approach a sex scene.
  • How to perceive the world as a full-bodied experience
  • How to bring that sensual perception into your writing.
  • How to use other art forms to stimulate sensuality in your writing
  • How controlled use of sensual writing can provide texture to a longer work

This workshop will be run on the Zoom platform and participants will be emailed instructions on how to participate ahead of the course.
