Early, Emerging
Discuss the role of emotional honesty in writing about ourselves and learn some of the basics of this popular writing genre.

Discover how to find the right theme or focus, how to structure your life story so that it makes for engaging reading, how to turn yourself and the people in your life into compelling characters, and how to seduce your readers by vividly describing your experiences.

You will learn

  • how to think about your life in literary terms
  • how to describe your experiences vividly
  • how to apply narrative conventions to your life story
  • about the differences between people in real life and the same people ‘on the page’
  • about the ethics of memoir
