Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 November, 10am–4pm

You will learn

  • to consider your audience – who is the story for? and why this story?
  • about voice: where does it rise from? and how do you know if you've got it right for teenagers?
  • about character: get ideas for building interiority, motivation and growth that creates plot momentum
  • to describe the arcs: effective pacing, story beats and tension
  • about pitfalls: trends, tropes and tokenism, and walking the line with gatekeepers
  • about real life teens: think more deeply about diversity in your writing
  • about the industry: publication, markets and onward

About Ellie Marney
