Join us for an evening dedicated to poetry publishing. Poetry is often overlooked in industry discussions, but poets and their publishers have clear and distinct needs, challenges, and opportunities. Take this opportunity to ask questions of our three panellists about all aspects of poetry publishing, from pitching, distribution, marketing, tips, and trends.

This evening will be run as a Q&A session and participants will be invited to submit their questions before and during the seminar.

About Jacinta Le Plastrier

Jacinta Le Plastrier is a poet, writer, editor, publisher and activist who lives on Bunurong Country. She is also the CEO and Publisher at national poetry body, Australian Poetry. To date, Jacinta has acted as Publisher on more than 30 books, including both individual collections and anthologies, across two poetry presses and now at AP, which publishes the national poetry journal and a number of annual anthologies including the just announced Best of Australian Poems, Vol. 1, 2021, guest edited by Ellen van Neerven and Toby Fitch.

About Jeanine Leane

Jeanine Leane belongs to the Wiradjuri Peoples of south-west NSW. She is a poet, writer and teacher at the University of Melbourne. She has published widely in the area of Aboriginal literature, writing otherness and creative non-fiction. Jeanine was the recipient of the University of Canberra Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Poetry Prize, and she has won the Oodgeroo Noonucal Prize for Poetry twice (2017 & 2019). In 2020, she edited Guwayu – for all times – a collection of First Nations Poetry commissioned by Red Room Poetry and published by Magabala Books.

About Terri-ann White

Terri-ann White has been involved in the arts since she was a young adult, as a writer and a publisher. At 23, she opened her own bookshop in Perth. After 14 years at UWA Publishing, she announced Upswell Publishing in 2021, which will publish a small number of distinctive books each year.
