In this interactive workshop award-winning visual storyteller Eloise Grills will teach the fundamentals of creating artistically compelling and conceptually integrated stories. Grills will outline a range of written and artistic forms, including comics, illustration, collage, hypertext, poetry and prose, and encourage writers to experiment and innovate within these hybrid forms and find their voice. Writers and artists of all back-grounds and abilities will be supported to create satisfying outcomes.

This session will take place online, via Writers Victoria’s online platform.

You will learn:

  • The fundamentals of visual storytelling forms

  • How to hone an idea to best fit your expertise and skillset

  • Creating successful visual elements which correspond and work in conversation your written material

  • Editing your piece to create the best combined effect out of your elements

  • Pitching your work and liaising with editors on experimental pieces
