Cover all the essential novel-writing tools – getting started (ideas, genres, setting, research), writing craft (POV, show don’t tell and more), character development and a variety of plot tools to help you structure your story. Theoretical components will be taught in conjunction with practical exercises and you’ll also be given feedback on your work to make your writing and novel stronger.

Please note that you will need access to a computer (or other device) and a good internet connection for this course.​

Submissions of up to 3,000 words due at midnight on Wednesdays 10 August, 14 September, 12 October and 16 November.              

Webinars: Mondays 4 July, 1 August, 5 September, 3 October, 7 November and 5 December, 6pm-7:30pm

About Phillipa Martin

Phillipa Martin is the author of five crime fiction novels published in 13 countries. Her Sophie Anderson series — ‘Body Count’, ‘The Murderers’ Club’, ‘Fan Mail’, ‘The Killing Hands’ and ‘Kiss of Death’ —met with international acclaim. In 2011 she moved into ebooks, releasing ‘Coming Home’, ‘Hell’s Fury’ and two novels for younger readers: ‘The Wanderer’ and ‘Grounded Spirits’. She’s currently working on a drama with a mystery twist and studying for her PhD in Creative Writing.
