Written communication is used every day in most office environments – from writing emails and reports, to more specialised duties (e.g. writing for the web). Writing for the Workplace will cover some of the basics of ‘good’ writing, such as being clear, concise and consistent; word choice; using the active voice; structuring longer communications in the most logical way; how to use linking words and statements to ensure your writing flows; and how to follow a company style guide.

In addition to theory, the course will include practical exercises to get you moving in the right direction.

Who should attend?

This course will suit anyone who wants to improve their writing and learn some ‘tricks of the trade’.

You will learn

  • characteristics of clear writing
  • how to write concisely (tools to reduce copy)
  • tips to ensure consistency in your writing
  • tools to structure your content logically
  • how to edit for ‘good’ writing and to a company style guide.

This workshop is part of our Business Writing program. It develops employment-related skills.

This session is a repeat of the Writing for the Workplace workshop in September
