Finishing A Book Project

Date:

With:

Eloise Grills

Rating:

ALL

Summary:

In this course, we will look at how to hew a rough book project into a beautiful, finished beast. We will find creative solutions to address structure, voice, form, themes, motifs and genre in our work and to ensure that we are devoted to its essence, our desires and the art we want to make. Writers will be encouraged to reflect on their work and to make bold choices in shaping their books into something of which they can be proud.

You Will Learn:

  • How to examine the shape of your work and to find ways to structure it, using visual and other devices.
  • How and when to take advice and ‘stick to the rules’, and when to follow our wildest instincts down the rabbit hole.
  • Identifying the form, themes, motifs and genre of the work and using these to help edit it into a working manuscript.
  • Study the approaches of other writers and apply their ideas to our work.
  • How and when to listen to the inner critic: and when to ignore it.
