Cover tools and approaches for revising text for tighter fiction. Develop ways to separate your author voice from your protagonist's, choose the right details for description and dialogue, and visualise the overall flow and underlying meaning of the piece.

Bravely workshop your own and others’ writing in forensic detail, with the goal of refining the individual pieces as well as your own technique.

You will learn

  • Learning how to approach one’s work as a reader
  • Practicing effective workshop skills – for both giving and receiving criticism
  • Knowing when it’s time to step back and hit send

About Steven Amsterdam

Steven Amsterdam is the author of ‘Things We Didn’t See Coming’ (Winner, The Age Book of the Year), ‘What the Family Needed’ (shortlist, Encore Prize), and most recently, ‘The Easy Way Out’, which was shortlisted for the ALS Gold Medal Award and longlisted for the Miles Franklin Literary Award. His short fiction and non-fiction has appeared in The Age, The Guardian, The Monthly, Heat, The Lifted Brow, Meanjin, Overland, Salon, and Virginia Quarterly Review. He is also a palliative care nurse.
