Writing with Voice: Creative Writing Workshops

Immerse yourself in a day of creative writing with the Gippsland Writers Network.

10am to 12noon: Writing With Voice with Shelly Beamish
What is voice and how do you know what yours is? What role does sentence structure and word choice play in the development of voice? When should you defend your writing habits and when should you push yourself to be more than the sum of your parts? These questions, and more, will be considered and addressed in the form of a variety of writing activations.

12.30pm to 2pm: Prompt-led Writing with Vicky Daddo
Using sentences starters, photos and other prompts, we’ll have fun writing creatively. Writing to deadlines and with prompts unlocks areas of your imagination. Work on a new piece or bring a WIP.

2.30pm to 4pm: Self-Editing your Poetry with Sally-Anne Watson Kane

This interactive workshop will give you the skills and confidence to edit your own poetry. The session will be friendly and informative and allow for each participant to join in with discussion, share their work and receive feedback. Bring a poem to work on during the session.
