Copyright Agency/UTS New Writer’s Fellowship 2022

Date: Mon February 21 2022 12:00 am to Mon February 21 2022 11:59 pm

The Copyright Agency’s Cultural Fund in partnership with the UTS Creative Writing Program is pleased to announce that applications are open for the Copyright Agency-UTS New Writer’s Fellowship.

Australian writers are now invited to apply for this residency for 2022. It is well known that completing a second or third book is often difficult. This unique opportunity provides a writer with the financial security to complete a new work, to take creative risks, and to connect with Australia’s leading creative writing program.

To qualify as a ‘new’ writer, you will have published one or two book-length works of fiction, poetry, or non-fiction with a commercial publisher since 2017.  You are also required to have a contract or letter of interest from a publisher for your second or third book.

The writer-in-residence will be required to be available two (2) days a week, from March to December, and be available for consultation with Creative Writing students and participate in other activities relating to the Creative Writing Program.  If the writer is local, they will be provided with an office. However, there is also the possibility of working remotely.

The successful writer will also be required to promote the position of Copyright Agency-UTS New Writer-in-Residence and the UTS Creative Writing program.

To apply, please provide:

  1. written statement of no more than 2 pages on how the Copyright Agency-UTS New Writer’s Residency will benefit your writing at this stage of your career and how your presence will contribute to a vibrant, diverse and innovative writing culture at UTS;
  2. CV (max 3 pages) and;
  3. confirmation of publisher interest.

Please address your application to Dr Delia Falconer (Delia.Falconer@UTS.edu.au) by midnight, Monday 21 February 2022.

The successful applicant will be notified by the end of February.
