Submissions for Issue 5 of the Pocketry Almanack are open from 15th December 2021 – 31st January 2022.
The Pocketry Almanack is a pocket-sized compendium that publishes emerging and aspiring poets who have not already had their work published in a literary journal.
Pocketry is looking for short poems – 18 lines maximum including line breaks and 45 characters wide including spaces. Work in all languages is accepted as long as it is accompanied by an accurate English language translation and isn’t pornogaphic, racist or demeaning.
Art work needs to be a black and white image with a transparent background.
Pocketry is an independent publisher based in Melbourne, Australia. It was founded in late 2019 by poet and self-confessed book geek Indrani Perera with the aim of providing a home for unheard voices. The first issue of the pocket-sized print journal, the Pocketry Almanack, was published in February 2020.
Pocketry began as a place for emerging and aspiring poets to get their work published in a literary journal. Since then Pocketry has run the Pocketry Prize for Unpublished Poets, launched the first season of its successful Pocketry Presents Podcast, published its first pocket guide, Pocketry’s Guide to Getting Published, and created an online shop.
