SCRIBES WRITERS – “POETIC LICENCE” POETRY COMPETITION 2021
DETAILS & CONDITIONS
There are two categories in the competition.
CATEGORY A: Traditional Verse
CATEGORY B: Free Verse
This competition has an open theme with a closing date of 30th June 2021 and a maximum line count of 60 (excluding the Title) in both categories.
1st – $200
2nd – $100
Highly Commended and Commended certificates will be issued at the judge’s discretion.
Conditions of Entry are as follows:
Entry fee: $8 per entry, per category.
Email entries are accepted.
Text, title and page numbers only to appear on the manuscript, not the author’s name.
A completed cover sheet Entry Form is to be attached (up to five entries per form). Multiple entries are allowed.
No clip art or decoration of any kind is to be included.
Prose Poetry will not be accepted.
Submissions must be the original work of the author, not having previously won a cash prize, been published or broadcast or submitted concurrently elsewhere. Anything that has been distributed in the public arena including social media is considered published.
Submissions must be typed, single spaced in Times New Roman 12 point font or similiar on single-sided A4 paper.
The Judge’s decision will be final and no further correspondence will be entered into.
Please note that manuscripts will not be returned but responsibly destroyed.
Winners will be notified by phone or email within 6 weeks of the competition closing date and the results, together with a judge’s report will be posted on this site.
Subject to author’s permission, prizewinning entries will also be published on this site.
Payment of entry fees can be made by cheque or postal order, made payable to SBCC – Scribes, or by bank transfer. Please do not send cash or coins in the mail. Stamps will not be accepted as payment.
If paying by bank transfer please deposit your payment in SBCC – Scribes account at Bendigo Bank,
BSB 633-000, Account No. 1317 39328.
Remember to include your surname and initial in the Reference section of the transaction so that the payment can be matched with your entry.
Entries must be post marked and Email entries must be sent on or before the closing date. Late entries will not be considered.
Failure to comply with these conditions of entry will unfortunately result in disqualification and a forfeited entry fee.
