We are pleased to announce the return of our writing competition for regional members.
Using the theme of ‘local colour’, current regional members of Writers Victoria are invited to submit a short piece of fiction, non-fiction or poetry for publication in the Aug/Sept edition of The Victorian Writer magazine.
The winner of the Regional Members’ Writing Comp will receive a paid commission of $500. Two runners-up will receive $250 commissions.
We define regional members as those living in regional areas of Victoria: those with phone numbers starting with ‘5’ and/or who live more than 50km from the Melbourne GPO. Members who live in regional areas in other states of Australia are also eligible to enter.
How to enter
Entries of up to 3,000 words (for 50 lines of poetry) should be sent as a Word document via email to our Editor (click this link) with the subject ‘Regional Writing Comp’. Entries should not have been previously published.
Submissions close at 5pm on Monday 16 May.
Please note: from later this year, these lists of competitions and opportunities will be available for Writers Victoria members only. Join us now so you don’t miss out.
