Open Call for Gothic and Literary Horror Fiction

Dark Lake Publishing LLP is excited to open a call for Gothic/Literary Fiction novels and novellas. Novels should be about 50-100k words and Novellas 20-40k words. This is not an inflexible rule, so please let us know if your manuscript falls a bit outside of these limitations in your submission email. No simultaneous or multiple submissions nor reprints for novels or novellas are accepted.

Genres we accept:

Gothic Horror/fiction, Literary Horror/fiction, Historical fiction with gothic elements, Literary Historical Fiction, LGBTQ Fiction, Dark/Epic fantasy, Ghost/Haunted House Stories, and Psychological Horror.

Genres we don’t accept:

YA, Poetry collections, Splatterpunk Horror, Shock horror, Romcoms, basically we avoid anything that doesn’t have a gothic or dark feel to it in this submission call.

We will not consider

Your work if it is previously published or it includes an erotic theme, child-abuse, extreme gore, homophobia, transphobia, or any derogatory term used toward any culture, race or sexuality.

Response Time:

Dark Lake Publishing LLP expects you to be patient. We don’t want to miss any great story, so we would be giving our earnest attention to each submission.
