Hyades Magazine is an online magazine of poetry and fiction, that seeks to publish the best poetry and short fiction. We don’t have any one aesthetic, so send us your finest work!
We prioritise submissions by BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, disabled and other traditionally marginalised creators, but we’re open to all writers.
Please note that we will never accept content that would be considered racist, sexist, anti-Semitic, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, or otherwise offensive to marginalised groups.
The reading period for our first issue extends from January 10th to April 15th. Please only submit once every reading period per genre.
For poetry, send 1–4 poems (up to 8 pages in total) in a SINGLE document (.pdf, .docx or .doc) attached in the body of an email.
For fiction, send up to two flash fiction pieces (up to 1000 words each) in a SINGLE document (.pdf, .docx or .doc) attached in the body of an email.
All work must be wholly your own and previously unpublished.
Simultaneous submissions are allowed, but please inform us promptly if any piece is accepted elsewhere.
Email all submissions to: firstname.lastname@example.org
For all submissions, include the word “SUBMISSION” in the subject line of the email; otherwise it will be deleted, unread. Please also place a 3rd person bio and cover letter in the body of the email alongside any submission. Unfortunately, we’re unable to pay contributors but will work hard to publicise all our accepted submissions. However, we will be nominating for Best of the Net and the Pushcart Prize.
We aim to respond to submissions as quickly as we can. If you haven’t heard from us within 2 months, feel free to query.
Thank you for considering Hyades as a potential home for your work! We look forward to reading it!
