Each year, the Faber Writing Academy at Allen & Unwin awards scholarship places for the Writing a Novel program.
Faber Writing Scholarships are open to anyone, and offer successful applicants the opportunity to take part in our programs in either Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and online for free.
We also offer a dedicated Faber Writing Scholarship for a First Nations Writer. The scholarship winner in this category may take classes in person in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane, or online.
Please ensure you have read all the Faber Academy Scholarship terms and conditions before making your application. If you have any queries, email us at email@example.com.
The deadline for applications is midnight on Friday 29 October 2021 for Faber Writing Scholarships for Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Online and for a First Nations Writer.
To apply, you will need to submit via this online form:
- a one page covering letter (maximum 500 words)
- a sample of up to 1,000 words of prose
In your covering letter, tell us about yourself, about the story you want to write, why you want to write this story, and why the scholarship will help you tell this story. The sample of prose you submit doesn’t need to be from something you’ll work on during the course, but it is most useful to us if it’s something not too dissimilar in terms of genre and voice.
Your cover letter and prose sample must be saved as a word document, with your full name at the top of the document and your full name as the title of the saved document. Please include your email and mobile number at the top of your cover letter.
