The Dorothea Mackellar Poetry Awards is Australia’s largest and oldest poetry competition for school students.
‘The Winding Road’ is the optional theme for this year’s awards, designed to inspire young Australians.
Nine categories cover all levels of schooling from Kindergarten through to Year 12, as well as the Assisted Learning categories, the David Maher Award for Small Schools, the Kurrumbede Award, and the coveted Schools’ Award.
Entrants have the opportunity to win cash prizes, trophies, book vouchers, and publication in the annual anthology, though every student is recognised with a participation certificate.
Entries for the 2023 competition close 30 June.
