2025 AGM Board Call Out

Writers Victoria is guided by a volunteer Board, the majority of which is elected from and by our membership.

Three (3) positions on the Board will be declared vacant at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held via Zoom on Wednesday 26 March 2025

To nominate yourself for a position on the Board, please download and complete a Board Nomination Form (Word document) and return it via email to: [email protected].

Please email your nomination form in Word or PDF format, from the email address we have on your membership record.

If you experience any difficulty uploading the Board Nomination Form into an email, we can accept your nomination details in text form in the body of an email or, alternatively, contact Memberships on (03) 9917 5684.

Members with experience in philanthropy, financial, IT, governance, arts management, membership and fundraising are particularly encouraged to apply.

You may also like to attend an online information session hosted by our Board Chair Alex Hammond on Monday 17 February from 5.30–6pm. Register for this session via our website here. Registrations close at midday on the day of the session.

Please note the following when nominating yourself for the Writers Victoria Board:

Only people who have been financial members of Writers Victoria for more than 30 business days prior to the AGM may nominate as candidates (11 February 2025).You do not need to ask another member to nominate you.

Please enclose a short biography (up to 150 words) and a brief statement to support your nomination (including why you wish to join the Board and what you think you could contribute).

Nominations must be received (not postmarked) no later than 5pm (AEDT) on Tuesday 18 February 2025.During the AGM, you will have 90 seconds to speak in support of your nomination. If you are unable to attend the AGM, a statement can be read on your behalf.

If successful, you will be expected to: attend up to twelve evening Board meetings per year either online or in person; attend other ad hoc meetings and planning days; join at least one subcommittee; contribute time and expertise in between meetings (average approximately 6–8 hours per month); support fundraising; and act as an ambassador for Writers Victoria. Writers Victoria board members are responsible for the financial wellbeing of the organisation and its representation externally.

Provisions can be made for regional members and access requirements.
