Writers Victoria invites writers with disability throughout Victoria to apply for a 2020 Write-ability Fellowship.
Now in its eighth year, our Write-ability Fellowships support emerging writers with disability with tailored professional development support such as manuscript assessments, curated programs of workshops, and/or mentoring.
Thanks to the Grace Marion Wilson Trust for once again funding this vital professional development opportunity which recognises 5 outstanding writers with disability each year.
2019 Write-abilty Fellow Alex Creece says: “I am supremely grateful for this Fellowship, and for what it has offered to my work and my general writing skills. Sharing and engaging with others is something I find extremely difficult in general, and then more so within the literary industry. Proving to myself that I can accomplish such things is a huge vote of confidence.”
We are happy to announce that this year, in addition to the 5 fellowships generously provided by the Grace Marion Wilson Trust, we will be offering an additional poetry fellowship, thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor. This additional fellowship will be awarded to a poet and will include a fully funded place in Andy Jackson’s Online Poetry Clinic, which will run between July and November 2020, and a publication opportunity in ‘The Victorian Writer’ in 2020.
Please be aware that, subject to health and safety guidelines in place during the pandemic, the 2020 Write-ability fellowships will be available as online mentorships, assessments and workshops only.
The deadline for applications is Tuesday 26 May 2020.
