Nillumbik Partnership Event: Writing Your Self and Others as Characters

Lee Kofman

You may know yourself and the people in your life well, but how do you make yourself and others known to readers who never met you? How do you express people’s complexities, paradoxes and idiosyncrasies? How do you animate them and bring them to life on the pages of your memoir? In this workshop, you will learn how to take real life people and develop them into compelling characters and characterize them vividly for the readers. You will do all this through a mix of theory, discussion, examples from notable memoirs and writing exercises.
