It's a new year and you've finally created some space for your writing. CONGRATULATIONS! You've already made the biggest step. Join Kate Mildenhall to take you through the basics of setting up your creative practice, developing strong habits, generating new writing and finding opportunities to pitch and publish your work. This course will give you a solid foundation in both the craft and business of being a writer.

Details

Three Full-Day Workshops:

  • Sunday February 12, 10am-4pm: The Basics of Becoming a Writer
  • Sunday February 26, 10am-4pm: Getting the Words Down
  • Sunday March 26, 10am-4pm: Pitching and Submitting Your Work

These workshops will take place online. Detailed instructions for participation will be provided.

You Will Learn:

  • Goal setting and accountability tips to get the writing done
  • Practical strategies for productive writing sessions in a busy life
  • Exercises to generate new writing and new approaches to your project/s
  • How to speak about your project confidently & concisely
  • How and where to submit your work for publication
  • Building and growing your creative community

About the Tutor:

Kate Mildenhall is the author of Skylarking (Black Inc., 2016) and The Mother Fault (Simon & Schuster, 2020). She co-hosts The First Time podcast, a podcast about the first time you publish a book, now in its fifth season. Kate lives in Hurstbridge on Wurundjeri lands, with her partner and two children. She is currently working on her third novel while undertaking her PhD in creative writing.
