Summary:

Whether you’re mining the personal spaces within yourself or bringing fiction to life, the creative writing techniques that you need remain the same. This workshop will explore the basics of structure and character, and will take an in-depth look at imagery. You will learn how to hone your voice, or your character’s voice, to make it intimate and specific, drawing your reader into your story. Suitable for emerging writers, and for writers who want to improve their writing skills.

Please note that this workshop is open only for writers who identify as Muslim. 
 

About the Tutor:

Demet Divaroren is the author of Living on Hope Street which won the 2018 Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards Prize for Writing for Young Adults and was shortlisted for a 2018 Prime Minister’s Literary Award. She is the co-editor of CBCA shortlisted anthology Growing up Muslim in Australia. Her second novel Blood Moon Bride will be published by Allen and Unwin in 2024. Demet appears as a panellist, guest speaker and workshop leader at literary festivals, universities and schools across Melbourne.
