Where do you write? Whether you write at home, in a studio, or out and about – even if you only write in your dreams – we all write somewhere.
It’s easy to forget that writing happens in a specific place. But, as our short story tutor Laura Jean McKay says, “What you record in your notebook, no matter how trivial, doesn't sit alone. It is part of the political, social and emotional world around you.”
As we head into Season 2, we’re drawing inspiration from the world around us – and the world within – to create compelling, complex and vibrant stories. We’re bringing you two jam-packed weeks of Winter School, online clinics and intensives, a walking workshop, plus a new writers’ reading group to join. There's workshops on memoir, life writing, short fiction, true crime, history writing, and writing and intersectionality.
We know how hard it can be to get those words out there. That’s why we’ve got workshops on starting new projects, first chapters, editing, publishing and pitching. We’re also introducing an evening series called “Ask…”, for all your questions on aspects of the writing and publishing industry.
And we’re getting out and about, with our Write-ability Goes Regional and Online program heading to Sale, Horsham and Wodonga, and our Touring Victoria Writers on the Road program travelling around the state with exciting new workshops and literary events in Mildura, Daylesford, Lake Tyers, Apollo Bay and Port Fairy.
This season, we’re going places. We hope you’ll come along for the ride.
