Writers Victoria is closely monitoring the unfolding coronavirus situation, with the health and safety of our writers, members, event and workshop attendees, and staff being our first priority. In light of the announcement by the State Library Victoria (where we are located) that it is closing to the public from Monday 16 March, and cancelling or postponing upcoming Library programs and events, the Writers Victoria Committee of Management has made the decision to postpone our AGM scheduled for Wed 25 March.
Subject to further advice from health authorities, we will either reschedule a face-to-face meeting by end-May, or hold the meeting online, subject to the availability of a suitable electronic voting facility.
The agenda, plus all Committee of Management nominations and special resolutions prepared for the meeting will still hold.
In coming days, we will be advising members about new ways they can engage with Writers Victoria and our services in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This will include making more of our services available online, and exploring a range of digital engagement opportunities. We recognise that these are difficult times for artists, including writers, and will continue to provide advocacy, professional development and support to our members in this light.
