At the Writers Victoria fundraiser in December 2016, spoken word poet Tariro Mavondo performed her poem 'Black Girl'.
Tariro is a Melbourne-based artist of Zimbabwean descent. She is dedicated and committed to working with the creative industry, corporate sector and community and health services to provide professional pathways and mentoring programs for young Culturally and Linguistically Diverse and Visibly Different artists.
She is a teaching artist and delivers movement-based creative arts community orientated programs that works with movement and dance, drawing, sound and voice, music, creative writing and poetry.
Tariro is the Producer of Africa’s Got Talent, the Artistic Associate at Metanoia Theatre based at the Mechanics Institute in Brunswick. She is currently an Ambassador of the Melbourne Theatre Company and Multicultural Arts Victoria’s Connect program. She is also currently working at Western Edge Youth Arts as a leading artist in various projects.
