This month features three guest publishers specialising in non-fiction writing. Find out the process of submission, the editorial relationship and the best publishing avenue for you.
Dale Campisi is an editor and publisher at Arcade, where his focus is Australian stories. He is also a food and travel writer. www.arcadepublications.com
Martin Hughes is the publisher of Affirm, a Melbourne-based publishing company committed to publishing books that have a positive impact on the community. Martin has had various jobs in media and publishing, formerly working for Lonely Planet as a writer, editor and photographer and as the editor of The Big Issue magazine. www.affirmpress.com.au
Susan Hawthorne is the co-founder of Spinifex Press, an independent Australian feminist press that publishes innovative and controversial books with an optimistic edge. Spinifex titles cover a wide range of subjects, with distribution in Australia, New Zealand, North America and Britain. www.spinifexpress.com.au
Host, Liz Steele is a freelance editor, proofreader and writer and teaches in the Diploma of Professional Writing and Editing RMIT TAFE. Liz is a former president of the Society of Editors (Victoria) and currently co-president of Editors Vic (formerly the Society of Editors).

Bookings are required for all events. As places are limited, we advise booking at least one week prior to event start date. Bookings are confirmed upon full payment to Writers Victoria. Refunds will only be given where a cancellation is made at least three working days prior to an event or course start date (excluding Summer School – refer to Summer School Booking Refund Policy). Writers Victoria reserves the right to cancel any activity due to lack of bookings up to two days prior to an event or course. Due to the nature of a 12-month program, event line-up may be subject to change. Selected Writers Victoria special events and session series are audio recorded for documentation purposes. In attending these events, audience members acknowledge and agree that whole or part of the recording may be used in future for public broadcast through podcast, radio or other channels via the Writers Victoria media outlets.
