What do editors do? How can an editor help you with your writing? What’s the difference between structural editing, copyediting and proofreading? When is the best time to start working with an editor? Members of the Institute of Professional Editors (IPEd) work across many genres of writing, provide different types of editing, and work with authors and publishers. IPEd members are qualified and experienced, and follow the Australian standards for editing practice.

About IPEd and its Ambassadors

The Institute of Professional Editors (IPEd) is the Australian professional association for editors. Professional members of the society must have an editing qualification or relevant experience. IPEd hosts an online Editors Directory, runs an accreditation program and provides ongoing development and support for editors. IPEd acknowledges the Copyright Agency Cultural Fund for supporting this workshop.

Lorna Hendry is an IPEd-accredited editor, teacher and graphic designer. Anne-Marie Peard is a freelance editor, teacher and arts journalist.
