If you have been penning poems for years and are seeking some new inputs and techniques, or if you have a secret hankering to write poetry but don’t know where to start, this course will provide stimulus, structure and feedback within a supportive environment.

  • How to start – generating ideas for poems

  • How to keep it fresh – ways to change up and interrupt your writing habits
  • How to refine it - self-editing techniques for looking back at your own work and revising it

About Emilie Collyer

Emilie Collyer writes plays, poetry and prose. Recent publication credits include: Australian Poetry Anthology, Cordite, Overland and The Lifted Brow. She is the author of Your Looking Eyes, an illustrated poetry book. She has been a Wheeler Centre Hot Desk Fellow, writer-in-residence at Melbourne University, and commissioned by Malthouse Theatre, Red Stitch and ABC Radio among many others. Award-winning plays include Contest, Dream Home and The Good Girl which premiered in New York in 2016.
