Do you find it easy to write dialogue? Do you find yourself imagining actors speaking your words? Do you want to push at the boundaries of your creative writing more generally? Then you might want to explore playwriting. This workshop will give you an introduction to the key techniques involved in writing plays – action, plot, character, dialogue and spectacle – and show you how to use those techniques to develop an exciting play.

You will learn:

  •  What sets playwriting apart from other types of writing.
  •  The difference between story and plot.
  •  How to show audiences (not tell them) who your characters are.
  •  The elements of great dialogue.
  •  What it means to make your writing theatrical.
