Explore character development, narrative function, voice and tone, ideas and aesthetics specific to short stories, with a focus on how to deploy these skills practically. Our discussion will be warm and inclusive, exploring a range of genres and styles but always with a focus on the art of fiction.

You will learn

  • A method for developing literary craft and a functional writing process.
  • An understanding of the narrative dynamics that create compelling short stories.
  • A better idea of how to develop characters with integrated, integral narratives.
  • Understanding the scope and functions of short narratives.
  • Practical knowledge of Australian literary market for local short story writers.
