The Wheeler Centre
The Wheeler Centre: Books, Writing, Ideas is an initiative of the Victorian Government.
Writers Victoria moved into the Wheeler Centre building in October 2009. The building is a hub for writing and literary organisations including:
- Writers Victoria
- Emerging Writers' Festival
- Melbourne Writers Festival
- Express Media
- Australian Poetry
- SPUNC
Plus affiliate organisations:
The Wheeler Centre organisation is housed in the Wheeler Centre building, in the State Library of Victoria, with street frontage along Little Lonsdale St. The facilities currently include meeting rooms, open-plan work areas, workshop spaces, a public presentation space for up to 200 people and public access to the Victorian Writers' Centre and Australian Poetry library collections. Work has began on The Moat, a cafe which will be housed on Level 1.
